Opening the 66th Annual Cannes Festival, The Great Gatsby premiere featured tons of sizzling stars in old Hollywood-style gowns that were more 1950s than ’20s. Let’s take a look at the best dressed:
Carey is a straight-up Marilyn between her matching co-stars. The only thing ruining the perfect vision is their scruff — come on, gentlemen, nothing’s classier than a clean shave!
Individually, Isla Fisher’s dress and statement necklace are stunning, but together, I’d say they’re a 70% match. The dress would need a sleeker skirt to work with the jewels.
This dress would be a little too busy on anyone else, but this is Miss Lana Del Rey we’re talking about. I wish she had gone for longer, flowier hair (more like Carey’s) and a different lipstick shade (she’s looking a bit gray), but she also looks like she feels gorgeous in the hip-hugging gown, so that definitely holds some weight.
Everything about this screams screen vixen — Cara took things that could easily age her (lace, long sleeves, tons of diamonds) and updated the vintage look with sun-kissed waves, a plunging neckline, and enough sheer panels to make your grandmother blush.
The center of of Georgia May Jagger’s gown fits the Gatsby/Baz Luhrmann aesthetic perfectly, and the red dress/lipstick/nails combo is a nice nod to classic Hollywood glamour.
Cindy’s silhouette-embracing white gown with gold accents is perfect for showing off that iconic bod.
