Carmen Carrera Knocks Caitlyn Jenner's Trans Experience: "She Lives In A Beautiful Castle"

Some fighting words!

Carmen Carrera threw a heaping dose of shade Caitlyn Jenner's way during a recent sidewalk interview with TMZ, telling paparazzi she's "not surprised" Cait's E! show is in danger of being cancelled because the reality star just isn't that relatable.

Carrera sounded off on the ongoing controversy regarding Jenner's politics and identity, and whether she's an exemplary role model for the trans community, given her privilege and general naivety about real issues facing the transgender community at large.

"I think Caitlyn is obviously awesome and brave and all those great things, but I think that she put herself in a tough situation because she hadn't really experienced much of the trans lifestyle, but she wanted to be on the forefront," said Carrera, who transitioned publicly after appearing on the third season of RuPaul's Drag Race. "So I think it's difficult."

She continued, echoing the sentiments of trans activists who've publicly addressed Caitlyn's 'relatability problem' previously:

"You have to learn about this community and you have to really understand our views and what we have actually been through, because I don't think she's really experienced, aside from living a closeted life, I don't think she's experienced the adversity that we have faced, that I still face on a day-to-day basis.

Once she experiences that first-hand, which I doubt she ever will, because she lives in a beautiful castle, I think then she might change some of her political views, and some of her conservative views."

Caitlyn addressed her lack of knowledge about trans issues in an in-depth interview with The Advocate in January.

"The media has kind of labeled me as the spokesperson for the trans community," she said at the time. "That is not the case. I am only a spokesperson for my own journey. After that, I know nothing. Am I learning a lot? Absolutely. I'm just trying to do my best, that's all."
