Carmen Carrera Thinks Nick Jonas Is Ready For "A Trans Love Interest"

"Let's open up that conversation!"

Trans trailblazer Carmen Carrera makes an appearance in Out's new interview with Nick Jonas, talking up the pop star's "humble" nature and thanking him for being "an amazing ally."

"We need more people like him in the music industry," the former RuPaul's Drag Race contestant told the magazine. "Someone who's willing to come out and say that he supports the entire LGBT community and embraces fans from all walks of life."

Carrera's so inspired by Nick's relationship with the LGBT community, she thinks it's time he had "a trans love interest in one of his music videos."

"Let's open up that conversation!" Carrera said, though not explicitly suggesting herself for the job.

Nick appears on the cover of Out's June/July 2016 issue, and in a series of fashionable shots inside that had fans screaming on social media this week.

Asked about the constant accusations that he's "baiting" the gay community with gay-specific press and messaging, Nick said, "It’s not the majority, but a large handful [of people] have a negative opinion for whatever reason, and I think it’s really quite sad."

This week, Nick stopped by Ellen to perform the hit single "Close" from his upcoming album, Last Year Was Complicated, out June 10:
