Cate Blanchett Serves Up Elven Realness In New "Hobbit" Clip: WATCH

Cate Blanchett reprises her role as Galadriel, the elven lady of the woodland realm, in a new clip from upcoming film The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. Early reviews are saying that Peter Jackson's (supposedly) final plunge into the world of Middle Earth is spectacular and action-packed. Blanchett's scene must be the quiet before the storm, then.

In it, Galadriel holds Gandalf (Ian McKellen) in her arms, surrounded by the ruins of Dol Guldor, breeding ground for the dark lord Sauron's impending power. The Nazgul (or Ring Wraiths) close in on her, but Galadriel remains calm. Just as the Wraiths are prepared to attack, two familiar faces show up and, presumably, dole out some punishment.

It's a great clip, one sure to get any Lord of the Rings fan excited about this latest chapter. And, as always, Ms. Blanchett is ravishing, compelling, and intense.

Watch the clip below.

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies arrives in theaters Dec. 17, 2014.
