Queer Stars Shine Bright On Hollywood Walk Of Fame
Today, RuPaul joined the constellation of more than 2,500 stars who currently grace the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The Walk of Fame was purportedly conceived in 1953 by E. M. Stuart, who served as the volunteer president of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. Five years later, the Chamber and City of Hollywood unveiled the first eight stars on Hollywood Boulevard at Highland Avenue, to honor Olive Borden, Ronald Colman, Louise Fazenda, Preston Foster, Burt Lancaster, Edward Sedgwick, Ernest Torrence, and Joanne Woodward.
Six decades later, the Hollywood Walk of Fame inducts an average of two new celebrities each month with the ceremonies being broadcast around the world.
