Chadwick Boseman Slays In Black Panther Costume

Vibranium is the new black.

The claws are out: Actor Chadwick Boseman posed for Entertainment Weekly in his full Black Panther garb, giving us the latest superhero to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe

Fans caught a fleeting glimpse of T’Challa in the teaser trailer for Captain America: Civil War. The Wakanda warrior prince will get his own standalone film in February 2018, but in the meantime he’ll play a wild card in the epic-global-struggle-slash-bromance-breakup between Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man and Chris Evans’s Captain America.

Boseman is covered head (well, pointed ears) to toe in skin-tight black fabric, which in the Marvel universe is made entirely of vibranium—the same energy-absorbing metal as Captain America’s mighty shield.

The catsuit looks top tier, but it wasn’t built for comfort, Bosewick admitted.

“I remember feeling extremely hot and claustrophobic, like, ‘How in the world am I gonna move and act and respond in this?’” he told EW. “But the shoes feel good. Everything else you get used to.”

The 42 and Get On Up star kept other details about his character close to his chiseled, armored chest.

“You never quite know where he stands,” said Bosewick. “There’s always a bit of concealing and mystery. So I think mysterious is more his boat. Not to say there’s not charm and he can’t be a ladies’ man and all that. It’s more like if there is humor, it’s more like James Bond.”

James Bond in a cat suit? Sold.

Captain America: Civil War hits theaters May 6, 2016.
