Channing Tatum is getting very, very serious for his next role, in what is sure to be one of the year’s biggest films, Foxcatcher. The movie is based on the true story of John du Pont, the multimillionaire, paranoid schizophrenic who had a love for wrestling, and whose relationship with two men, Olympic gold medalist Dave Schultz and his younger brother Mark, ended in tragedy.
Tatum plays Mark Schultz, Mark Ruffalo is Dave Schultz and, in a performance and transformation that seem destined to score him some major awards kudos, Steve Carrell plays du Pont. Bringing some much needed estrogen to the pic are Brits Vanessa Redgrave as du Pont’s mother and Sienna Miller as Dave’s wife.
Also not hurting the film’s predigree is director Bennett Miller, a man who has earned Best Director Oscar noms for his first two films, Capote and Moneyball, and, based on this trailer alone, sure looks like he’s gonna be going three-for-three with this tale of murder, money and greed.
On a lighter note, the film will also showcase Channing in a singlet as he rolls around and wrestles with other dudes!
