Charges Against Six Rentboy.com Employees Dropped

The company's CEO was formally charged with promoting prostitution last month.

Criminal charges have been dropped against the six rentboy.com employees who were arrested along with their boss and company founder Jeffrey Hurant last year.

Hurant was formally indicted on charges of money laundering and promoting prostitution last month, but the criminal complaint remained against the members of his staff who were also arrested.

Now, following protests by activists who accused the feds of anti-gay bias, it's being reported that the charges against all six have been dropped.

According to the New York Daily News, "A magistrate judge, acting on a motion from prosecutors, dismissed the complaints against Michael Belman, Clint Calero, Diana Mattos, Marco Decker, Edward Estanol, and Shane Lukas."

Meanwhile, Hurant's lawyer, Michael Tremonte, is currently working on plea negotiations for his client.

"The government’s charges against Mr. Hurant are unwarranted," said Tremonte. "He ran his business openly for nearly 20 years, and it makes no sense to single him out for criminal prosecution."
