Charice's Mom Claims To Be An "Ex-Lesbian"

Okay, we get that sometimes parents aren't too happy when they're children come out, but maybe some things are better kept between family.

Earlier this week, Glee star and iconic Filipino singer Charice Pempengco confirmed during an interview on The Buzz that she is a lesbian. She went on to apologize to family and friends. Obviously while most of Cherice's fans have supported her, there has also been some drama to come out of the woodwork as well. Some have questioned her ability to be a role model, while the head of the Roman Catholic church in the Philippines claims that she is going through an identity crisis.

The most heartbreaking thing in all of this, though, is the reaction from Charice's mother, Raquel Pempengco. In a press conference from her home in Marikina, accompanied by her son, Carl, the elder  Pempengco read an open letter to the press. In this letter, she touched on how they haven't seen Charice as much as they wanted to and how she doesn't approve of many of the people her daughter spends time with:

The most shocking part of the letter came when when Pempengco claimed, “I used to be a lesbian,” and only turned her back on homosexuality when her own mother convinced her to "build a family".

We're not going to lie and say this doesn't leave a bad taste in our mouths. Maybe this is something that should have been kept on the down low, but maybe Pempengco and son feel like this is the only way to reach Charice?
