How To Help Fight The Hate In Charlottesville

Fight against white supremacy and show your support for equality.

Charlottesville made headlines this weekend when thousands of white supremacists came together for a hate-fueled “Unite the Right” rally. Chanting bigoted rhetoric, they clashed with counter-protesters in a showdown that resulted in the death of civil rights activist Heather Heyer when she was run over by James Alex Fields Jr.

As Twitter vigilantes vow to out the Charlottesville supremacists, we’ve compiled immediate ways you can show up for equality.

There are a host of groups that will put your donations to good use: A leading organization is the Stop Hate Project (SHP), led by the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law.

SHP declared it "rejects the hateful rhetoric promoted by the organizers of Saturday’s white nationalist rally in Charlottesville" in a press release . It is accepting donations to help connect community leaders, law enforcement, and pro-equality organizations with necessary legal resources.
