Crisis In Chechnya: Donate To Russian LGBT Network And Tell Nikki Haley To Speak Out

It takes just five minutes (or $5) to help fight the LGBT crisis in Chechnya.

Reports continue to confirm that gay men are being persecuted in Chechnya, with allegations of a concentration camp for homosexuals within a former army base.

Russian newspaper Novaya Gazeta claims the goal of the camp is “the complete cleansing of Chechnya from men of non-traditional sexual orientation.”

Immediate action is essential.

Got Five Dollars?

The Russian LGBT Network is working on the ground in Chechyna to help victims and those at risk. Donations fund a hotline as well as emergency support, psychological counseling, and legal aid. Many Chechyna fundraisers are funneling money to this organization, but it's most effective for donors to go to the source.

Got Five Minutes?

You should certainly sign Amnesty International's petition, which is helping direct mass attention towards the crisis. But that will only take you a minute: With the remaining four, join GLAAD president Sarah Kate Ellis' call for U.S. Ambassador Nikki Haley to take action.

"As the leader of the free world, we can’t watch in silence as the world slips back to an era we should never go back to.”

Put pressure on Haley through the U.N. contact form and on Twitter.
