Chelsea Manning is "Safe" Following Suicidal Tweet

The post showed someone standing on a ledge, alongside the words, "I'm sorry."

Chelsea Manning is reportedly safe following a suicidal tweet.

The since-deleted tweet, sent from the WikiLeaks whistleblower and Maryland Senate candidate's official account, showed a person standing on a ledge above two cars and the street below, with the caption, "I'm sorry."

In the early hours of Monday morning, a new tweet went up, ensuring Manning is "safe" and in contact with friends. It also expresses gratitude for everyone's concern, and asks that she be granted space.

Manning twice attempted suicide in 2016 while in federal custody. Her sentence was commuted by then-President Barack Obama, and she was released in May of last year.
