Cher Fan Club President Mike Huckabee Dons Drag To Perform For Las Vegas Crowd

When he's not out dishing deeply homophobic rhetoric or being an awful person in general, GOP presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee spends his time entertaining crowds in drag as a Cher impersonator.

The former Arkansas governor may not be a full-time female impersonator, but he was filmed channeling his idol on at least one occasion back in May 2010.

Buzzfeed reports that in the video below, Huckabee is thrust on stage and put in full Cher costume by ventriloquist and comedian Terry Fator during a show at The Venetian in Las Vegas. The outfit, which actually looks pretty terrifying out of context, included a fully-beat face, a jet black wig and a yellow form-fitting gown.

Huckabee doesn't do any actual singing but he's got pretty good rhythm as he sways to the classic Sonny and Cher hit "I Got You Babe."

The sketch was all in good fun, but it turns out Huckabee is actually a die-hard Cher fan IRL.

Buzzfeed reports:

In a book about his 2008 presidential campaign, Huckabee wrote that he was a fan of Cher in comments attacking his opponents for flip-flopping as fast as Cher can “change costumes in one of her many farewell tours.” Huckabee writes he finds her show “an amazing blend of rock concert, circus and fashion show.”

“I think Cher is on her third or fourth ‘Farewell Tour’ — saying good-bye is a hard thing to do, and frankly, it would be a shame if she did quit given that I have to admit that her show is an amazing blend of rock concert, circus and fashion show.”

Well well well, Governor. You've never looked better.
