Cher dropped the lyric video for “I Hope You Find It,” the second single off Closer to the Truth and it might just sound familiar to some of you.
The song, a tender love ballad, is actually a cover of a song originally recorded by Miley Cyrus for her 2010 movie The Last Song, which co-starred her ex-fiance, Liam Hemsworth. The two pop divas put their own spin on the track, which is exactly how covers should be done.
But it’s a little ironic considering the shade Cher threw at Cyrus over her VMA performance and new look: “[Miley] could have come out naked, and if she’d just rocked the house, I would have said, ’You go, girl.’ It just wasn’t done well. She can’t dance, her body looked like hell, the song wasn’t great, one cheek was hanging out. And, chick, don’t stick out your tongue if it’s coated.”
Gee, you think maybe Cher prefers classic Miley to New Miley?
