Bob the Drag Queen is the reigning queen of RuPaul’s Drag Race and now she wants to conquer the silver screen: She’s appearing in the new drag comedy Cherry Pop, alongside her Drag Race sisters Detox, Latrice Royale and Tempest Dujour.
In the film, directed by Assaad Yacoub, Lars Berge plays a new queen arriving at a failing drag bar, where she struggles to find her place among the vicious clique of performers.
Cherry Pop makes its New York debut on June 19 during NewFest, followed by a screening at the Castro Theater in San Francisco on July 11. It’ll then be available on VOD in the fall from Wolfe Video.
“Cherry Pop radiates an irresistible queer vibrancy that makes NYC Pride the perfect venue to host our New York premiere,” said Wolfe Video’s Jim Stephens.
The film premiered back in March as part of Outfest Fusion, an L.A. film fest spotlighting LGBT people of color.
RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 9 airs Fridays at 8/7c on VH1.
