The popular musical fantasy flicks, which debuted in 2015, follow the magical adventures of the sons and daughters of classic Disney villains.
All villains in the United States of Auradon have been banished to the Isle of the Lost. But four of their children—also known as VKs or villain kids—are picked to study at Auradon Prep and prove they can be good when separated from their parents’ evil influence.
Here’s an official Descendants 3 synopsis: “Mal (Dove Cameron), Evie (Sofia Carson), Carlos (Cameron Boyce), and Jay (Booboo Stewart) return to the Isle of the Lost to recruit a new batch of villainous offspring to join them at Auradon Prep. When a barrier breach jeopardizes the safety of Auradon during their departure off the Isle, Mal resolves to permanently close the barrier, fearing that nemeses Uma (China Anne McClain) and Hades will wreak vengeance on the kingdom. Despite her decision, an unfathomable dark force threatens the people of Auradon, and it’s up to Mal and the VKs to save everyone in their most epic battle yet.”
“Descendants 3 will be the biggest in scope of all the previous movies,” director Kenny Ortega tells EW. “Everything has been scaled to deliver an epic story. The characters, the sets, the costumes, the dance numbers are all bigger, better, and the baddest!”
Jackson, who is raising twins with husband Jason Landau, is a Tony-nominated Broadway veteran who has also appeared on shows like 30 Rock, Glee, and The Real O’Neals. Last year the former RuPaul’s Drag Race guest judge appeared as Will’s ex-boyfriend on Will & Grace.
Disney Channel’s hit series Andi Mack features the network’s first character to come out as gay.
Descendants 3 premieres this summer on the Disney Channel.
