Chris Hemsworth: "Playing Thor As A Woman Could Win Me An Oscar"

The mantle of Thor, god of thunder, will be taken up by a woman in an upcoming issue of the Marvel comic book. And Chris Hemsworth, who has played Thor in two solo films and the mega-successful Avengers movie, thinks playing the Asgardian adventurer as a woman could nab him an Academy Award.

Asked what he wants to do with the big screen incarnation of the character, Hemsworth replied “Turn him into a woman.”

“I don’t want to jinx it, but I think it could be my Oscar,” he quipped.

We're sure Chris would do a bang-up job, but we'd hate to miss out on shirtless scenes like this one.

A third Thor movie is in the works, presumably for 2017, but it's not believed to include a gender-swap. Speculation is that it will focus on Ragnarok, the Asgardian Apocalypse.

In addition to Thor, Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) and Loki (Tom Hiddleston), the next installment is believed to include Asgardian god Balder and the Enchantress, an evil seductress in the comics.
