Christian Couple Say They'll Divorce If Gay Marriage Becomes Legal

You think we have haters in America? A Christian couple in Australia says they will get divorced if same-sex marriage comes to their country.

Nick and Dr. Sarah Jensen, high school sweethearts who have been together for a decade, announced their plan an op-ed in the Canberra CityNews.

“My wife and I just celebrated our 10-year anniversary. But later this year, we may be getting a divorce,” wrote Nick. “The decision to divorce is not one we’ve taken lightly. And certainly, it’s not one that many will readily understand. And that’s because it’s not a traditional divorce.”

He explained that even if they dissolve their marriage, the Jensens will stay together, raise more children and call each other "husband" and "wife." They'll just legally end their union because “marriage is not a human invention."

“Our view is that marriage is a fundamental order of creation. Part of God’s human history," he writes. "It has always been understood to be that exclusive relationship where one man and one woman become 'one flesh.'"

Always? 'Cause we kind of remember everyone in the Old Testament having a bunch of wives and concubines.

While Prime Minister  Tony Abbott opposes marriage equality, the Australian public overwhelming supports it, by a margin of 64%. But we guess religious conservatives only have use for democracy when the majority agree with them?
