Lauren Mayberry is thankful for the gay people in her life. The Chvrches singer credits the band's gay following, and her friends in the LGBT community, with reminding her how fortunate she is.

“Just because I get to coast around in a nice, cushy little bubble, that’s not how it is for everybody,” Mayberry told Go. “And I guess now being in the band that we’re in, having a huge gay following," she added, "just trying to check my privilege as a white, cis, straight woman is pretty important and just remembering that I have it pretty fucking good."

Mayberry said it's extremely important to her and the band to focus on "causes outside of themselves."

The singer recently performed in the Ally Coalition talent show in New York, helping to raise thousands for New Alternatives, a local LGBT youth homeless shelter.
