When people say ‘dreams can come true,’ John Ed is a living example of the motto. Last night, the owner of Party Productions NYC celebrated the one-year anniversary of his transgender-centric party, Tranny Strip, with a circus inspired theme at Evolve Lounge. With stilt walkers, ring mistresses, and little men, the extravaganza was rightfully coined “Cirque de Tranny Strip.”

“I had a dream about it, and when I woke up I literally thought I was at my own party,” John Ed recollected about the humble beginnings of Tranny Strip. “It was so vivid and so real that I spoke to one a producer here in New York City named Sandy Michelle, and I put the party together immediately. A month and a half later, Tranny Strip was up and running.”

One year later, Tranny Strip is one of the leading transgender events in the United States, with up to 800 attendants in one night. Tranny Strip offers a safe haven, and of course nothing short of a fun time, for transgendered women and their allies. Every week, the lovely ladies combine lap dances and strip teases with entertainment and glamour befitting of the Moulin Rogue. Most importantly, John and his girls provide a sense of family:

“I’m nothing without the girls," says John. "The girls know that. They support me and are 100% behind me.”

Dex New York Makeup founder and the party’s co-sponsor Dex Phillip has been with Tranny Strip since its inception, and was inspired in his own way by the weekly soiree.

“It takes me back to the days when I was out in the clubs from Roxy to the Sound Factory,” says Phillip, “and I was so enamored by all the queens that led me to becoming a stylist. Turning that whole style atrium that I came from, I then in turn created a makeup line that I wanted to be funky and super creative, but at the same time healthy and benefits the skin.”

Transgender femme fatale Amanda Lepore and adult entertainment superstar Domino Presley graced the fiesta with their presence amongst other beautiful women of the evening.

Disclaimer: Some photos are (slightly) NSFW. Then again the coffee machine in your office may not be either. Also, we wouldn't usually use the word "tranny" here, but it's in the title of this trans-celebratory event, and isn't intended to offend anyone in the transgender community.
