“Clueless” Remake in the Works With “Girls Trip,” “GLOW” Creatives

But who will play the "friend of Dorothy"?

As if?

Clueless remake is in the early stages of development at Paramount Pictures, Deadline reports.

Girls Trip screenwriter Tracy Oliver will produce, and GLOW screenwriter Marquita Robinson will write the script. It's still unclear whether the new Clueless will be a completely updated reboot or include original cast members.

Written and directed by Amy Heckerling, the original 1995 teen comedy classic was loosely based on Jane Austen’s Emma and set in the '90s Beverly Hills high school scene.

The film, which helped launch the careers of Alicia Silverstone and Paul Rudd, also starred Breckin Meyer, Jeremy Sisto, Stacey Dash, and the late Brittany Murphy. A TV spinoff ran for three seasons.

Silverstone led the cast as Cher, a ditzy popular girl who likes to play matchmaker. Justin Walker played Christian, Cher's stylish love interest, who is ultimately revealed to be gay and famously described as a "disco-dancin', Oscar Wilde readin', Streisand ticket-holdin' friend of Dorothy."

Oliver is also penning Paramount's upcoming African-American spin on The First Wives Club for television.

Meanwhile, a Clueless musical headlined by Disney star Dove Cameron premieres next month off-Broadway.
