Gayest. CMAs. Ever: Lil Nas X, Kacey's "Rainbow Connection," and the HBICs of Country

This year's Country Music Awards featured a historic win, epic tearaways, and enough sequins to pave an old town road.

The 53rd annual Country Music Awards was as gay as a pair of rhinestone chaps and twice as sparkly. Carrie Underwood hosted, with copious help from fairy godmothers Reba McEntire and Dolly Fucking Parton. Lil Nas X became the first openly gay performer to take home an award… ever (we repeat: it was the 53rd annual CMAs), Halsey popped up, and some of the biggest ladies in the game came together to open the show with a medley for the ages.

But if one gif perfectly captures the barometer of "YAS KWEEN" from last night's ceremony, it's Reba teaching the Drag Race gurls how to do a proper tearaway…

Why, with another tearaway, of course.

Ah, the classic-dress-into-a-jumpsuit reveal. Bravo to the gays who made this happen for her. Check out Reba's performance of "Fancy" below:

Elsewhere, Celeste and Madeline reunited to plot the death of Keith Urban.

It's only a matter of time before Meryl shows up with a necklace in her mouth asking what happened that night. Well, Meryl, Lil Nas X made history in what has already been quite the historic year for him.

Despite "Old Town Road" being booted off the country music charts back in March for not being "country" enough, the 20-year-old two-stepped away with the CMA for Musical Event of the Year, alongside Miley's dad, Billy Ray Cyrus.

In the spirit of crossover collaborations, P!nk performed "Love Me Anyway" with Chris Stapleton and Halsey performed a medley of "Graveyard" and "What If I Never Get Over You" with Lady Antebellum.

And things got stunningly sapphic with an all-lady rendition of Little Big Town's "Girl Crush," featuring Artist of the Year Ashley McBryde, Kelsea Ballerini, Carly Pearce, Lindsay Ell, Maddie & Tae, and Runaway June—with Little Big Town dropping by at the end to bring the song on home.

Perhaps the sweetest moment of the night came when noted redheaded stranger Willie Nelson was joined by everyone's favorite ladyfag Kacey Musgraves for a duet of "Rainbow Connection."

Musgraves won Video of the Year for her LGBTQ anthem "Rainbow." Basically, the only way this show could've been any gayer was if this had been Kacey's acceptance speech:

So let's just say it was and cue up "High Horse" for the 8,967th time.
