A Minnesota man's (literally) flaming protest of General Mills has landed him in hot water. Responding to the company's support for same-sex marriage, 65-year-old Michael Leisner torched a box of Honey Nut Cheerios outside the cereal maker's headquarters. In a video of the ill-conceived protest posted on youtube, Leisner proclaimed, “One out of every eight boxes of cereal in this country is Cheerios. This is really the treat now for the homosexuals.” He then used a blowtorch to light a box and bowl of the delicious, heart-healthy breakfast cereal. However, things didn't go exactly as planned and he inadvertently set ablaze the lawn before fleeing the scene.
Leisner was subsequently fired from his job and may face criminal charges. Yet, faux conservative Stephen Colbert had his back on Wednesday's Colbert Report, insisting Leisner reacted as any rational man would in response to "the homosexual mafia that controls breakfast."
