I Run Hot, according to Deadline, "follows the unlikely friendship between Eliot, a gay curmudgeon who never quite fit in with the community, and Colton, a famous #instagay who can’t help but exemplify it."

Although not mentioned by Deadline, the Glazers revealed on social media that Colton will be played by out actor Colton Haynes.

Haynes, 31, who came out publicly as gay in 2016, is best known for his work in shows like Teen Wolf, Arrow, and American Horror Story: Cult. He co-starred with Ilana in the 2017 comedy Rough Night.

Eliot appeared with his sister on Broad City as Eliot Wexler, fictional Ilana's brother. The gay comedian's additional credits as a writer or producer include Teachers, New Girl, and Younger.

"Started from the bottom now we're queer," Eliot tweeted about the I Run Hot announcement.

AMC Studios plans to sell I Run Hot to a third party broadcaster or digital platform.

"We’re looking for highly original visions and voices as we think about how AMC Networks evolves," said Sarah Barnett, president of AMC Networks Entertainment Group and AMC Studios, in a statement. "The projects in development both on the Entertainment Group side and at AMC Studios all embrace people with singular and surprising points of view."

"We will prioritize creative risk-taking that doesn’t rely on the shock and awe of sheer size, but instead delivers the surprise and delight of brilliant storytelling in our quest to stand out with human-scaled brands in this dynamic and changing content environment. There is so much phenomenal talent to discover and so many new, different, electric stories to be told."
