Complex Magazine Drowns Justin Bieber, Locks Him In Chains

"I’m gonna make sure that I don’t have people around me who make me look like an idiot."

Justin Bieber does his best Houdini impression this month in Complex magazine, where the pop singer appears shackled underwater.

Photographer David Black shot the cover and interior images, a likely metaphor for Bieber’s current status as a pop star chained by the expectations of his young fans and drowning in the waters of media scrutiny.

But will Bieber make his great escape from the bratty persona he’s allowed himself to become?

He sound determined to.

“When you’re young, you don’t know who’s bullshitting you. I’m gonna make sure that I don’t have people around me who make me look like an idiot. I didn’t even have that with my parents,” he confesses.

“Now I’m having real relationships where it’s two ways. I didn’t understand how that works because the way people would interact with me was never 100% genuine.”
