If you were worried about the mental stability of the North Korean government, we don't have encouraging words:. A statement published on a state-run news agency's website declared a new UN report on human-rights violations was "peppered with fabrications," then lashed out with homophobic attacks on its lead investigator, Australian judge Michael Kirby:

As for Kirby who took the lead in cooking the "report," he is a disgusting old lecher with a 40-odd-year-long career of homosexuality. He is now over 70, but he is still anxious to get married to his homosexual partner.

This practice can never be found in the DPRK boasting of the sound mentality and good morals, and homosexuality has become a target of public criticism even in Western countries, too. In fact, it is ridiculous for such gay to sponsor dealing with others' human rights issue.

Kirby, Australia's longest-serving jurist, is openly gay—he and partner Johan van Vloten have been together since 1969—and has been an ardent defender of human rights and LGBT equality for decades. "The movement for equality is unstoppable. Its message will eventually reach the four corners of the world," he declared at the 2002 Gay Games in Sydney, where he was a keynote speaker.

"Officially,  homosexuality doesn't exist in North Korea, and there appear to be no laws on the books banning it," Adam Taylor noted in The Washington Post. "In the rare moments it is acknowledged, it is viewed negatively." The topic of homosexuality is generally taboo in North Korean society and gay Koreans are still expected to marry members of the opposite sex.

We've heard of the gays being blamed for a lot of things, but the human-rights situation in North Korea is definitely a new one.
