Crowdsourced Photo Identifies Gang Of "Clean-Cut And Well-Dressed" Gay Bashers
Thanks to eagle-eyed Twitter users, a group of alleged gay bashers who brutally assaulted a couple in Philadelphia has been identified.
We reported yesterday on the vicious attack on two young men in Center City that left one with a wired jaw, facial fractures and a laceration from his nose to his lip.
According to the victims, who have asked not to be identified, someone in the group asked whether they were a couple. When the men told them they were, the mob attacked—punching and kicking them in the face, head and chest.
“They were screaming, ‘you dirty faggot, you dirty faggot,’” said one victim, 26. A police description described the all-white gang as "clean-cut and well-dressed," though witnesses reported they appeared intoxicated.
Yesterday, Philadelphia police released security footage showing a group they believed to be responsible for the attack.
By last night, Twitter user Greg Bennett posted a photo of a group that looked a lot like the alleged assailants, posing at a restaurant.
Another Twitter user, FanSince09, retweeted the photo and, after receiving numerous responses identifying the restaurant as La Viola in Center City, cross-referenced the people in the pictures with their Facebook check-ins.
