Customers Call Gay Waiter "Affront To God" Instead Of Tipping Him, Jelly Belly Supporting Transphobia, More: Today In Gay

In lieu of giving a tip, customers at a restaurant in Overland Park, Kansas, told their waiter "your homosexual lifestyle is an affront to God." An unnamed server at Carrabba's Italian Grill went to pick up a table's check, but instead of a gratuity he found the following message scribbled on the back of the bill: "Thank you for your service, it was excellent. That being said, we cannot in good conscience tip you, for your homosexual lifestyle is an affront to God. May God have mercy on you."

How did the topic of his sexuality come up anyway? "Today's special is a veal marsala with a red-wine reduction and fingerling potatoes...and it will be served to you by a homosexual."  More importantly, if these holy rollers try to avoid eateries with gay waiters, they may end up starving to death.

Carrabba's has rallied behind the waiter, and customers have taken to social media with special plans to patronize the restaurant. "The offers to help pay me back are much appreciated, but not at all needed," wrote the affronted waiter."I'd prefer to let my work ethic and my service do the talking, nothing else."

Jelly Belly_Template.inddJelly Belly chairman Herman Rowland Sr. has left a bad taste in our mouth: The jellybeans purveyor  donated $5,000 to fight a law supporting transgender students from grades K-12 in California, including access to facilities based on their gender identity. Rowland cut a check to the “Privacy Of All Students” campaign, which aims to garner enough signatures to put a repeal of the School Success and Opportunity Act on the ballot in 2014.

Promoting hate and tooth decay? For shame.

The Hawaii legislature will likely vote this week on a marriage equality bill, with supporters claiming they have enough votes in both the senate and the house to get it made law. Democratic Governor Neil Abercrombie has said he will happily sign the legislation if it crosses his desk. A public hearing by the Senate Judiciary committee is set for today, with the full Senate set to vote on Wednesday and a full House vote on November 4.

Former Will & Grace star Sean Hayes says he owes the LGBT community an apology for waiting so long to come out. "I was so young," Hayes told the L.A. Times. "It made me go back in the closet [with the media] because I was so overwhelmed at 26 or 27. I didn't want the responsibility, I didn't know how to handle the responsibility of speaking for the gay community. I always felt like I owed them a huge apology for coming out too late."

Ed Miller and Warren Schlegel, an Oregon gay couple who have been together for 42 years, recorded this amazing video as part of the Oregon United For Marriage initiative. All we can say is, get you hanky ready.
