CW's New Archie Series "Riverdale" Is Gothy, Gloomy—And Sexy
Riverdale,, the new Archie Comics-inspired series coming to the CW, has its first official trailer out and the show looks more atmospheric than we'd expect from America's oldest teen.
“It’s definitely Archie, but a little darker, a little more complex and a little weirder than you might remember from the digest you bought at the supermarket,” producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa told EW. “We’re saying it’s a little bit like Archie meets Twin Peaks.”
The show will see Archie, Betty, Veronica, Jughead and the rest entering their sophomore year in school and facing a surprise murder-mystery.
The show, the latest comics adaptation from out creator Greg Berlanti (Supergirl, Flash, Arrow), offers plenty of eye candy.
Joining the young cast is Casey Cott as gay teen Kevin Keller and veteran TV star Luke Perry as Archie's dad, Fred Andrews.
Riverdale premieres January 26 on the CW.
