Cyndi Lauper Serves Holiday Hope With "Hard Candy Christmas" Cover

"Somehow even if you freakin’ put up a candy cane and one little Christmas light, it can make you feel better."

It's the time of year that our favorite pop stars give us gifts in the form of new Christmas music, and this week it is Cyndi Lauper gracing us with a cover of the Dolly Parton classic "Hard Candy Christmas."

The track, which was written by Carol Hall for the movie The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, is about focusing on the good possibilities in life, even when times are tough, and Lauper's version certainly adds to that vibe.

About the song, Lauper said:

“It’s very hopeful. As you look around New York City, there’s a lot of people really not doing that well. I just thought that it was one of those songs that can give you strength. Somehow even if you freakin’ put up a candy cane and one little Christmas light, it can make you feel better. It’s such a wonderful song."

And for an extra holiday treat, check out her performing the song live for her Home for the Holidays benefit last week in New York City.
