Single Dad Asks Reddit For A "Crash Course" In "Drag Race" To Get Closer To His Son

And their answers gave us all the feels.

Imagining your parents going through any of your stuff strikes fear in the heart of any teenager—especially LGBT teens.

That is why it was so refreshing to see a thread on the RuPaul's Drag Race subreddit go viral all because of a dad wanting to get closer to his son by learning some basic drag speak 101—after discovering his son was watching the competition series.

"Okay, so I'm a single parent of two amazing boys (4 year old and 15-year-old). My 15-year-old has a tough time at school, being shy and having a stutter," the redditor, who goes by the handle "Dad of a Fan," wrote on Reddit.

"I was cleaning up his room while he was in the shower and I need this show (RuPaul's Drag Race) was paused on Netflix. He has been using different kind of phrases like 'the shade' and 'I'm gagging' (that one worried me at first). I googled the shade and found it was a drag term but I didn't understand it."

"Is there any advice you can give me? I won't embarrass him and start quoting the show but when he said he was "gagging" I had no idea how to react," he explained. "I would like to know how to react. I was hoping I could get a crash course on this sort of chat."

He also added that any tips, stories or general advice "would be awesome," and is sure his son is gay "for other reasons" too.

Instead of trolls coming out, the community on the Drag Race subreddit came together to praise the dad for being so open to learning about drag culture just to be closer to his son.

Twitter also chimed in, including everyone's favorite squirrel friend, Michelle Visage, who asked to be put in touch with the father, and then later gave an update saying she was teaching him "all the tee." Michelle is used to talking to parents of LGBT children so we know this dad is in good hands.

We hope we get an update from "Dad of a Fan" once he learns how to decipher drag speak. Head over to Reddit to read the whole thread.

RuPaul's Drag Race Season 10 airs Thursdays at 8/7c on VH1.
