"Dancing With The Stars" Refuses To Pair Male Dancers During Gay Singer's Performance

High-ranking ABC execs reportedly gave the idea a "definitive no."

ABC has reportedly nixed the idea of pairing two male dancers together on an upcoming episode, offering a "definitive no" without further consideration.

TMZ reports a choreographer for openly gay industry newcomer Who Is Fancy suggested the idea to coincide with the theme of Who Is Fancy's new track "Boys Like You," which he'll be performing on the show alongside Ariana Grande and Meghan Trainor.

Since the song is apparently about a man falling in love with another man, the choreographer reportedly sent an email to ABC execs saying it would "be an awesome look to have two males dancing with each other."

Sources within DWTS' higher-ups say the idea was "discussed," however an email reply to the choreographer stated: "Apologies all but this is a definitive no from the network."

Instead, sources claim DWTS will allow "near dancing" during the performance, suggesting something similar to a recent performance that featured two men dancing together for 20 seconds:

Neither Who Is Fancy, Ariana Grande, or Meghan Trainor have responded to the news, though it's safe to assume Grande will if she feels the LGBT community has been slighted by the decision. The singer's close relationship with her famous brother Frankie makes her outspoken about issues that affect the community.
