America’s Biggest Bridal Chain Targets Lesbians in New Ad Campaign

David's Bridal is saying "I do" to diversity.

We now pronounce this commercial dearly beloved.

David’s Bridal has released its first ad featuring a same-sex couple, the Daily Dot reports.

The wedding attire behemoth's new "Rewrite the Rules" ad celebrates non-traditional brides on their big day, including a lesbian couple, mixed-race couples, and a couple with a baby.

“Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue,” says the narrator of the 30-second spot. “And above all else, something you.”

"We wanted to make sure this spot represented what we see from brides today," David’s Bridal chief marketing officer Liz Crystal tells Ad Age, noting that the company's marketing focus has shifted from their dresses to those wearing them. "We value every type of bride."

The Pennsylvania-based company, which was founded in 1950 and filed for bankruptcy in November, is reportedly investing more in marketing.

LGBTQ weddings added $1.6 billion to the national economy during the year after SCOTUS legalized marriage equality nationwide, according to a 2016 report from Williams Institute on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Law and Public Policy.

The lesbian-inclusive David's Bridal ad will air on TV and appear on social media.
