DC Comics Unveils Super-Charged Pride Month Slate for 2022
Let's hope the Bat-signal has a rainbow filter because the DC Multiverse is the place to be this Pride Month.
DC Comics has unmasked its upcoming slate of Pride Month titles, including the fan-favorite annual Pride-themed anthology, DC Pride 2022, along with the new graphic novel, Galaxy: The Prettiest Star from writer Jadzia Axelrod and artist Jess Taylor.
According to DC, Galaxy: The Prettiest Star is "a. young adult graphic novel about gender identity, romance, and shining as bright as the stars. It takes strength to live as your true self, and one alien princess disguised as a human boy is about to test her power!" There will also be a preview of Galaxy: The Prettiest Star available on Free Comic Book Day on May 7.
DC Pride 2022 will hit comic stands on May 31 and features an introduction by trailblazing Supergirl actress Nicole Maines. The superheroes and villains spotlighted in the 104-page special will be:
Alysia Yeoh and Batgirl by Jadzia Axelrod and Lynne Yoshii
Aquaman/Jackson Hyde by Alyssa Wong and W. Scott Forbes
Green Lantern/Jo Mullein by Tini Howard and Evan Cagle
Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy by Dani Fernandez and Zoe Thorogood
The Ray by Greg Lockard and Giulio Macaione
Superman/Jon Kent by Devin Grayson and Nick Robles
Tim Drake by Travis G. Moore
But Pride doesn't stop on July 1, and DC got the memo. The comics giant will be releasing a host of queer-inclusive content throughout 2022.
The slate will kick off with the DC Pride 2022 anthology, but the following titles will launch throughout the rest of the year: Poison Ivy, Nubia: Queen of the Amazons, DC Pride: Tim Drake Special, and Multiversity: Teen Justice. There will also be Pride-themed variant covers in June for titles like Batman, Superman: Son of Kal-El, Action Comics, Aquamen, Nightwing, Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn, and more.
