Debra Messing Pens Beautiful Tribute To TV Mom Debbie Reynolds
Debra Messing took to Facebook yesterday to pay tribute to the late Debbie Reynolds, who portrayed her mother, Bobbi Adler, for eight seasons on Will & Grace.
Reynolds appeared sporadically throughout the show's run, stealing every scene as she poked fun at Grace, offered sage advice and did the "Told Ya" dance.
"My heart is literally broken," Messing wrote. "For eight years she was my mom. She was pure energy & light when she came on stage."
Messing described Reynolds as "loving, bawdy, and playful—a consummate pro—old school and yet had the work ethic and investment in her craft of a new fiery up and comer."
"She was always running off to Vegas or somewhere else 'on the road' to be a hoofer, to sing and dance and make people laugh."
"A Legend of course," she continued, "the epitome of clean cut American optimism, dancing with Gene Kelly as an equal, a warrior woman who never stopped working."
Messing confided that her own mother, who passed away a few years ago, loved that Debbie her television mom. "I hope they find each other and hug and kiss and my mom says, 'I got you, Debbie. Carrie's waiting for you.'"
