Hollywood icon Debbie Reynolds, star of films like The Unsinkable Molly Brown and Singin’ In The Rain says playing Grace’s mother, Bobbi Adler, on Will & Grace was one of her favorite rolesbut admits it wasn’t a big stretch for her. “I just had a good time. They wrote it just for me and about me,” she tells Gay Star News. “I used my own clothes, I used my fur pieces—I did my own drag. The gay boys who worked for me taught me how to dress drag.”

Reynolds had hoped to start a museum with the collection, much of it from MGM Studios golden era, but began auctioning items off in 2011 when that dream never materialized.

A final auction is being held in L.A. this Saturday and Sunday, when items like Elvis Presley’s piano, one of Mae West’s gowns, and costumes from Citizen Kane and Gone With the Wind will all be up for bid.  “My heart was in it because I was under contract to MGM for 17 years. It was my home,” Reynolds says of her Tinseltown treasures. “All the pieces were very precious to me and to others who couldn’t have access to buying them.”
