Demi Lovato Reportedly Hospitalized for Heroin Overdose

The reports come almost a month after Lovato confessed she had relapsed in her hit single, "Sober."

Update (July 25): Reps for Lovato have issued a statement to NBC News: “Demi is awake and with her family who want to express thanks to everyone for the love, prayers, and support. Some of the information being reported is incorrect and they respectfully ask for privacy.”

Update: Sources close to Lovato tell Entertainment Weekly and People that the pop star is “okay and stable.”

Singer Demi Lovato has been hospitalized for a suspected heroin overdose, reports TMZ.

Sources told the site that Lovato, 25, is currently being treated at a Los Angeles local hospital. LAPD and emergency personnel confirmed to Page Six that they responded to a “medical emergency” at a house on Lovato’s Hollywood Hills block around 11:40am today.

Law enforcement then told TMZ that Lovato was unconscious when they arrived at her home. The pop star was reportedly treated with Narcan, an emergency treatment for narcotics overdoses.

Lovato, who revealed last October that she is open to dating men and women, has always been candid about her struggles with depression, eating disorders, and drug abuse. She has been in recovery for years.

However, in her most recent single, “Sober,” the singer seemed to confess a relapse in her sobriety: “Momma I’m so sorry I’m not sober anymore / And Daddy please forgive me for the drinks spilled on the floor / To the ones who never left me, we’ve been down this road before / I’m so sorry, I’m not sober.”

Earlier today, Lovato tweeted about her scheduled appearance on this week’s episode of FOX’s Beat Shazam. Reps for the pop star have yet to comment on her condition.
