"Designing Women" Is Headed to Hulu

We suddenly have Labor Day weekend plans.

August 26 will be the night. The lights. Go out. In Georgia!

Designing Women has never been available on a streaming platform before, but all seven seasons of the classic sitcom will finally be available digitally next month when the Sugarbakers bring their Atlanta interior design firm to Hulu.

The popular series, which originally aired on CBS, premiered in 1986 and ran for 163 episodes. The cast included Delta Burke, Dixie Carter, Annie Potts, and Jean Smart.

“We saw these four fabulous women balancing work and home lives, running businesses, handling setbacks and dating. But the show never shied away from tough topics like domestic abuse, homophobia, racism and women’s rights and its themes and storylines continue to have relevance today," Hulu’s head of originals Craig Erwich tells Deadline.

Fittingly, August 26 also happens to be Women’s Equality Day.

Series creator Linda Bloodworth-Thomason is reportedly working on a Designing Women reboot for ABC, so a Hulu binge would be the perfect way to reacquaint yourself with the sassy Southern belles.
