Did Fox News’ Shepard Smith Just Come Out Of The Closet?

Don Lemon attended the National Lesbian and Gay Journalism Association gala last night, and parodied Ellen DeGeneres’ infamous Oscar night selfie with a group photo (above) that included Amy Robach, Tiki Barber, Ronan Farrow, Ashleigh Banfield, Javi Morgado, Jamie Colby, Rick Reichmuth, Sally Kohn and Shepard Smith.

Yes, that Shepard Smith, the Fox News anchor who has never publicly discussed his sexuality despite working for a notoriously anti-gay news network. Smith, 50, has reportedly been dating  27-year-old Fox Business producer Gio Graziano.

Of course you don’t have to be a homosexual to attend NLGJA’s Headlines and Headliners fundraiser but even Gawker was speculating Smith might use the event as his coming-out platform. No such luck. In fact, the Washington Blade reports Smith dodged a reporter trying to ask him questions outside the gala.

Of course, there’s no law saying a news anchor has to make a public statement about being gay. And there’s no law saying a gay man can’t work for Fox News. But if you’re gonna be on the down-low and work for Fox News, maybe don’t go to a celebration of out-and-proud reporters.

Just saying.
