Now Disney’s films just have to catch up: The company has faced criticism for its decision to omit Li Shang from the upcoming live-action remake of Mulan. The character was viewed as bisexual because he was attracted to Mulan while she pretended to be a man.
And in the live-action remake of Beauty and the Beast, LeFou’s homosexuality was merely hinted at in one scene, despite it being touted as “an exclusively gay moment” by director Bill Condon.
