Disney's "Enchanted" Sequel Moving Forward With New Title

"Lug a hairball from the shower drain/To the gay refrain/of a happy working song!"

2007's Enchanted was a huge success—turning Amy Adams into a major Hollywood player, fueling the public's interest in grownup fairy tales, and earning $340 million internationally on an $85 million budget.

Eight years later and the proposed sequel is still lumbering along. After a false start in 2010, Enchanted 2 was reportedly moving forward as recently as last year.

J. David Stem and David N. Weiss (The Smurfs, Daddy Day Camp) are supposed to be whipping up a new story following up characters from the original, like Princess Giselle (Adams), her beau Robert (Patrick Demsey), Prince Edward (James Marsden), evil Queen Narissa (Susan Sarandon) and Nancy Tremaine (Idina Menzel).

Anne Fletcher (Step Up, 27 Dresses, The Proposal) is still in line to direct, but Collider reports Disney “is now in the process of punching up the script with the hopes that it will be in greenlight-ready shape very soon.”

But apparently the film has a new working title: Disenchanted.

A little negative, don't you think? Ah well, who are we to question the House of Disney?

But if this project doesn't start shooting soon they're gonna have to recast or rewrite the film: Adams is 41—the prime of her life, to be sure, but a little old to be wearing tiaras and crinolines.

In 2011, Marsden agreed.

“I think that the clock is ticking on that one. Amy [Adams] and I are both saying, 'If there's going to be a sequel, we're not getting any younger.' [But] that was something really special and I'd love to come back and do another."

Plus, Adams is tied into the whole DC Cinematic Universe as Lois Lane, so her dance card is pretty full.

Who would you cast as the new Giselle—or perhaps her princess daughter?
