Doctor Fired For Ranting Against Homosexuality Hires Kim Davis' Lawyers

"Behaviors common within the homosexual community are unhealthy and high risk for a host of serious medical consequences," wrote Dr. Paul Church.

A Boston doctor who was fired for railing against homosexuality has enlisted Kim Davis' legal team to fight his termination.

In 2009, Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital sent out an email inviting staffers to participate in the hospital's Pride float.

Dr. Paul Church, a urologist, decided he needed to speak out—replying to all with a warning that "behaviors common within the homosexual community are unhealthy and high risk for a host of serious medical consequences."

He insisted participating in a Pride parade was "reprehensible" and jeopardized the credibility of the hospital.

"[It] dishonors a large proportion of its community who continue to hold to the conviction that homosexuality is unnatural and immoral."

He followed up his screed by posting comments on the hospital's intranet site about the dangers of homosexuality.

When hospital administrators got wind of his actions, Church was fired.

After two unsuccessful appeals of his termination, he's now enlisting Liberty Counsel, the reactionary legal organization that defended Kim Davis and has made several attempts to overturn marriage equality rulings, to plead his case.

"[Dr. Church] has lost his medical credentials at that particular medical facility. Why? Because he chooses to have the best interests of his patients and the others in the Center as his first priority, as a doctor should," Liberty Counsel founder Mat Staver told OneNewsNow.

Staver insists Church's termination is proof the medical establishment is putting a political agenda before the public's well-being.

"He will not promote an immoral lifestyle that is clearly harmful to both physical and mental health."
