Doing Dallas with “A-List” Star Chase!

Chase hangin' out before hitting the rodeo! Or, perhaps before shopping.

Meet “A-List: Dallas” cast member Chase, the open-book, fifth generation Dallasite, and real estate investor. When Chase isn’t crunching numbers, a nice patio and margarita suits him just fine. And best part is he tells us where his favorite patio margaritas spots are! (Aren’t open books fab? ) Yup, this modest self-proclaimed “classless, charmless” Dallas cast member isn’t ashamed of strutting his cowboy boots on a night out on the town.

Chase may seem a bit calmer than the other cast members, but he still has his fare share of Dixieland drama and an passionate taste for BIG HAIR. I guess everything IS bigger in Texas huh?

If you’ve seen the show, you know Chase isn’t afraid to show off his chest hair, and luckily he certainly isn’t afraid to show off his favorite Dallas hotspots, where being able to hear the other person is a key ingredient to a great night out.
Check out Chase’s tell-all interview on where to go when you go out in Dallas.

RESTAURANTS

What’s your favorite bar/restaurant to sit outside?
Taco Diner in West Village is the best patio around. I LOVE to sit with a Mambo Taxi margarita and watch all the fabulous Dallasites stroll around.

Taco Diner, Dallas

Where would you go for your “last meal”? And what would ya order?
That would have to be Fearing’s Restaurant at the Ritz-Carlton. Seriously ya’ll, give me some of their Antelope or Tortilla soup, and I will die happy.

Your favorite fast-food/drunk-food/late-night feed?
That would have to be Café Brazil on Cedar Springs right after a night of bar hopping. I love their coffee bar—and the patio is always fun to sit on and watch the drunkies stumble by.

Best place for a hangover brunch?
Breadwinners is my favorite hangover hangout. The beauty of this place is the fact that almost every single person there on Sunday’s is hungover—misery loves company. The food rocks too.

BARS

Which bar has the cutest/hottest guys?
I would say the Grapevine has its fair share of hotties during the weekend afternoons. It has a big patio out back as well—cruising anyone?!

Rattlesnake Bar, Ritz-Carlton, Dallas

Which is your favorite dive bar (it doesn’t have to be gay, but it’s OK if it is…)? As in, the craziest, messiest place where anything can happen?
BJ’s—hands down.

The best place for a really expensive cocktail in a majorly posh setting?
If you really feel like acting like a pompous ass, the Rattlesnake Bar at the Ritz-Carlton is the place to be—the drinks rock too!

Best place to dance in Dallas?
Round-Up Saloon—gay cowboy fun.

Most authentic cowboy joint/honky-tonk, gay or otherwise?
See Round-Up Saloon, above. ;)

SHOPPING

Hands down, which store do you love the most—and why?
I am a Nieman Marcus boy—always have been, always will be. You cannot be a born n’ raised Dallas boy and not love Nieman’s. It’s just not proper.

What’s your favorite little secret store?
I’m sorry, speak up next time…

Best neighborhood for shopping?
Highland Park Village—best shops in all of Dallas in one fabulous outdoor center.

SIGHTS

Describe the best date/artsy night out? Opera? Museum? Music? Or what…?

Winspear Opera House

There are a lot of things happening in Dallas right now—one of them being a resurrection of the arts within our fare town. I absolutely love to visit the Winspear Opera House. Maybe a light dinner in the arts district beforehand, someplace like Stephan Pyles would be perfect. If I really wanted to be artsy that night, I would probably wrap up the evening strolling around the Nasher Sculpture Center in downtown. My fancy level would definitely shoot up a few notches by the time I got home that night.

What’s your favorite touristy sight in Dallas?
The Dallas Aquarium in downtown—it’s so frickin gorgeous.

Best place to show skin in Dallas?
My bedroom. I mean, Station 4 (S4), the hottest gay club in Dallas.

Best place to beat the summer heat or stay cool when it’s hot in Dallas?
Well, that’s kind of impossible, but the best place to try and beat the heat would be NorthPark Center. Personally I hate malls, but this treasure is the only one I have ever been to that I truly love—beautiful shops, fabulous people, and awesome food.

FINALLY…

What’s your favorite Dallas guilty pleasure? Where, when, how, what?
The State Fair of Texas is held in Dallas every year, and is a must for a true Dallas-lover. I always go with pants that have an elastic waistband—this is of the utmost importance. The reason for this being that I go to the fair for one reason, and one reason only; eat as much fried food as possible—fried butter, fried Oreos, fried margaritas… Now, do I want to heave over and die after my friend binge of goodness? Yes. Is it worth it? Absolutely, honey!
