Watch Dolly Parton and Linda Perry Perform a New Song From “Dumplin’”

Do we smell a Best Original Song Oscar nomination?

Dolly Parton wants to be a "Girl in the Movies."

This week, the queen of country music treated some entertainment journalists in L.A. to a new song from the upcoming Netflix movie, Dumplin', which will feature covers of classic Parton songs, like the previously released "Here I Am," as well as some new tunes.

Parton took the stage with Linda Perry, who worked with Parton on songs for the soundtrack, and the two treated the crowd to a new song "Girl in the Movies." According to The Playlist, Parton also spoke about working with Perry, and how the two recorded six songs in one day.

You can hear "Girl in the Movies" in the Instagram video below:

Dumplin’, based on the 2015 YA novel of the same name, follows Willowdean, a plus-sized teen who is full of confidence and spirit, and enters a local beauty pageant to win over the boy she likes and to enrage her mother (Jennifer Aniston), who is a pageant queen, herself. When Willowdean enters the contest she inspires a group of teenage outcasts to find their inner strength and join the pageant too.

Dove Cameron and Maddie Baillio from NBC’s Hairspray Live!, and RuPaul’s Drag Race star Ginger Minj will also be starring in the film, along with Georgie Flores and Danielle Macdonald.

In the book Willowdean says “the best moments of her life have started with a Dolly Parton song” and it’s no coincidence that the main character was named after one of Parton’s sisters, Willadeene Parton.

The Dumplin’ soundtrack will be released November 30.
