Shut up and take our money because two of America’s kindest queens have collaborated on a new merch collection benefiting LGBTQ youth and children’s literacy.
The Dolly Parton x Nina West “Kindness is Queen” set was announced today. The capsule consists of a t-shirt, an enamel pin, and a tote bag. The three items will be sold for a limited amount of time, and proceeds from the collection will go to Dolly’s Imagination Library and the Nina West Foundation, which supports LGBTQ youth and families.
“When I approached Dolly with the idea for a collaboration between the Nina West Foundation and Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, I was looking for an opportunity to continue to spread my message of kindness while building on the work I’ve done through my foundation supporting youth and families,” West told Entertainment Weekly. “Dolly is the Ultimate Queen of Kindness, and I am so thrilled that she agreed to this collaboration! We both want to spread the message that ’Kindness is Queen,’ and that being kind is something that is desperately needed in our world right now!”
This is far from the first time Parton has collaborated with a drag queen. Ginger Minj was in the 2018 Netflix movie Dumplin’, which Parton produced. The queen of country also made a surprise appearance on the RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 12 finale.
Last year, Parton even told NewNowNext how much she loved Drag Race: “That drag show with RuPaul is great. I’ve always loved RuPaul. Who could be a better drag queen than RuPaul?! I love the fact that drag queens love to dress like me. To me that’s a compliment, to get out there and sing my songs.”
“Kindness is Queen” is just another reason that 2020 is truly the year of Dolly.
