Trump Wants NBC to Fire Debra Messing From “Will & Grace”

"ABC fired Roseanne. Watch the double standard!"

President Donald Trump has escalated his feud with actor Debra Messing, suggesting NBC should fire her from Will & Grace for her criticism of him and his supporters.

The beef began when Messing encouraged The Hollywood Reporter to release a list of attendees at a Trump fundraiser in Hollywood, prompting the president to accuse her of “McCarthyism” because he felt she was trying to create a “blacklist.”

Her co-star Eric McCormack backed her up, also asking for a list of names to be released. While he too has gotten some criticism, most of it seems to have landed on Messing.

She shared a message from McCormack in which he said his post was “misinterpreted” and that he doesn’t support “blacklists or discrimination of any kind,” but rather that he simply wished to “understand where Trump’s major donations are coming from, which is a matter of public record.” Messing said she “couldn’t have said it better.”

Trump has also criticized Messing for liking a tweet showing a sign calling black Trump voters “mentally ill.” Messing has apologized for liking the tweet, saying she should have “thought before recklessly supporting.”

Trump tweeted on Thursday that Messing was being criticized for the “blacklist” as well as “being accused of being a Racist because of the terrible things she said about blacks and mental illness.”

“Will Fake News NBC allow a McCarthy style Racist to continue? ABC fired Roseanne. Watch the double standard!”

Roseanne Barr lost her show after sending out a tweet comparing former President Barack Obama aide Valerie Jarrett to an “ape.” She has said that she mistakenly thought Jarrett was white when she sent the tweet, and has claimed she isn’t a racist but rather just “an idiot.”

NBC announced earlier this summer that the upcoming season of Will & Grace will be its last.
