Gay rights activists are promoting a “kiss-in” at your local Chick-fil-A at 8:00 p.m. this evening. The event, created July 19, was undercut by Mike Huckabee’s Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day held this past Wednesday during which thousands of anti-gay chicken lovers to gathered en masse at Chick-fil-A locations nationwide.
The kiss-in invites supporters, gay and straight alike, to gather at Chick-fil-A for a demonstration of “love, equality, and the real definition of family.” The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) is additionally encouraging members of the LGBT community and their allies to donate the equivalent of the cost of a meal at Chick-fil-A, about $6.50, “to help GLAAD shine a light on companies that keep discrimination on the menu.”
Meanwhile, Speaker Nancy Pelosi reiterated on Thursday that she believes in “freedom of expression” for both sides. However, “I’m a Kentucky Fried Chicken fan,” she told reporters.
