This weekend got off to a very, very bad start for us here at NewNowNext when the Daily Mail published a story claiming that Maggie Smith had asked Downton Abbey cretor Julian Fellowes to write her out at the end of the third season, never to return again and silence both upstairs and downstairs alike with her amazing quips. Well, turns out they were fibbing.
A press representative for the show says that the report is “complete nonsense” and added that though they do not like to comment on future storylines the Daily Mail story was “not true.”
Looks like Maggie Smith is not going to get that week-end she has been wondering about any time soon. And we could not be happier about that.
