Butler Thomas Barrow Gets Gay Kiss in “Downton Abbey” Movie Trailer

Dowager Countess is clutching her pearls!

Judging from the new trailer, Thomas Barrow is no longer the only queen at Downton Abbey.

Focus Features has released the first trailer for the upcoming Downton Abbey movie, which reunites the cast of the British series and shows them preparing the estate for a lavish reception to welcome the king and queen of England.

The preview teases what the characters have been up to since the series ended, but it looks like villainous gay butler Thomas (Rob James-Collier) is still up to his old tricks, stealing kisses in the darkened halls of Downton. Get it where you can, Thomas!

The period drama followed the lives of the fictional Crawley family and their servants in an Edwardian English country home at the turn of the 20th century. The ITV series, which subsequently aired on PBS in the United States, ran for six seasons from 2010 to 2015.

Julian Fellowes, the show’s creator, wrote the film’s screenplay with Michael Engler directing. “Julian’s script charms, thrills, and entertains,” said co-producer Gareth Neame in a previous statement.

Barrow’s sexuality might’ve been the worst kept secret at Downton. Over the course of the series, the scheming manservant, who had a habit of falling for straight guys, underwent gay conversion treatment and attempted suicide. In the series finale, which aired March 2016 in the U.S., he was recommended to take over as head butler of the estate.

Maybe the movie will finally provide Thomas with a happy ending? For his plot, we mean.

Downton Abbey hits theaters September 20.
