Grab your passports, drag lovers, because we’re headed to the Philippines.
World of Wonder, the fierce production company behind RuPaul’s Drag Race, has announced that the Southeastern Asian country will be the next place the Emmy-winning franchise will sashay away to. The Philippines is the latest addition in the ever-growing list of countries around the world where Drag Race has planted its drag flag, including the U.K., Canada, Thailand, Holland, Australia, and Italy.
“The Drag Race franchise has shined a spotlight on so many incredible queens from around the world and we are so excited to introduce audiences to the dazzling queens of the Philippines,” said World of Wonder co-founders Randy Barbato and Fenton Bailey. “WOW Presents Plus was created to serve as a springboard for underrepresented voices, so we are thrilled to exclusively premiere Drag Race Philippines on the platform for our global viewers.”
Drag Race Philippines will be available globally on WOW Presents Plus, but that’s really all the info we know for now. Host, judges, and queens will be announced at a later date. Speaking of queens, Drag Race Philippines is currently casting for its first crop of contestants. Check out Ru’s call for fierce Filipinos in the new casting video below.
